Who is Plume for?

Plume is for our community, which includes trans women and trans men, nonbinary and gender non-conforming people, intersex people, genderqueer people, agender people, and folks who are questioning their gender. Plume offers gender affirming healthcare services in 37 states to anybody over the age of 18 (except Nebraska and Alabama where the minimum age is 19). Both Estrogen+ and testosterone are available in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Idaho, Illinois, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Washington DC, Wisconsin, Wyoming


Only Estrogen+ is available in Alabama, Utah, Minnesota, Arkansas, Louisiana, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Delaware, North Dakota. 


Where is Plume available?

Plume is available in many states and continues to rapidly expand. See our coverage map for details. If you live in a state we don't currently serve, sign up for our newsletter to be notified when we're in your state.


What if I live on the border of one of your active states?

Even if you are right on the border, are willing to travel, and/or travel for work, we do need to have an address located in a state we are currently active in. Telehealth services are regulated differently than brick-and-mortar clinics, so we use your home address to determine whether we can serve you. We also need to send your prescriptions to a pharmacy in the state that we serve and your lab order to a Quest Diagnostics or Labcorp facility in that state. You may use a P.O. box with an address in a Plume active state as your home address. For prescription delivery, our pharmacy partner will not deliver to P.O. box addresses. 


How is membership different in New York, New Jersey, and Rhode Island?

Due to state laws, New York, New Jersey, and Rhode Island have a slightly different membership. Patients in New York and New Jersey are legally required to pay for lab services out-of-pocket. Because of this, we have arranged for members in this state to pay a lower rate at Quest Diagnostics and Labcorp. When you pay out of pocket, we offset this cost by discounting your monthly membership. Monthly membership for patients in New York, New Jersey, and Rhode Island states is $90, discounted from $99.


What does Estrogen+ Only mean?

Estrogen+ Only means we can only offer estrogen-based therapies in these states, as current telehealth regulations make it almost impossible to offer Testosterone. We will continue to push for reform regulations to offer Testosterone in the future.


Do you serve intersex folks?

We do provide care for intersex folks. During your initial appointment, we will talk to you to understand the entire scope of care you need. That way, we can ensure we can support your goals. As you know, there are many different intersex experiences; some of them require more specialized care than others. If your intake appointment determines that Plume is not a good fit for your healthcare needs, we are happy to refund the cost of the visit and research alternative options so that you can connect with a provider who can help you. 


Do you prescribe hormones to cisgender individuals?

No, we exclusively provide gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) services. 


Do you serve nonbinary folks?

Absolutely! At Plume, we are committed to delivering gender-affirming care for our nonbinary community. Learn more about nonbinary gender-affirming care and where we fit in serving nonbinary folks. 


Do you serve nonbinary folks who want their dominant hormone prescribed?

Some nonbinary people want hormone therapy that increases the level of their dominant hormone. While therapeutic, that is technically a form of hormone replacement therapy (HRT). We are not able to prescribe hormones to someone whose body is naturally producing them in high levels. For example, if you are an estrogen-dominant person, we are not able to give you a prescription for estradiol.


Your Plume provider is committed to expertly guiding you to meeting your transition goals. What if I am already receiving gender-affirming medications from a doctor and want to switch to Plume?

You can absolutely switch from your current provider to receiving gender-affirming care at Plume! We are honored that you want to explore using Plume to support you on this journey. To care for you, we need to follow the intake process as though you were a new patient. If you are continuing your medication with Plume, we can review the prescription that your former provider gave you. We do our best to make it as easy as possible to transfer your care and your prescription to Plume, so that you feel supported and do not experience a gap in care. Our healthcare providers will send a prescription to the pharmacy of your choice, order labs, and generally monitor your progress over time. If medically appropriate, this can happen as early as your first appointment with Plume. Once you have signed up and scheduled your intake appointment, you can chat with our care team about the best solution for your current situation.
