Plume members have access to an expanded list of care services, including acne, anxiety, allergies, depression, smoking cessation, insomnia, and contraception. We know that your gender journey is much more than just hormones. By expanding our services, we can safely prescribe treatments for these common issues our members are experiencing—all included in one membership.

The trans community often avoids seeking care for a variety of health concerns due to a lack of cultural competency by health providers. Cultural competency in trans healthcare involves understanding and respecting transgender individuals, including using their chosen name and pronouns. It also entails recognizing the diversity of gender identities and being aware of the unique healthcare needs and barriers faced by transgender patients. Upwards of one in six queer and transgender adults reported avoiding health care due to anticipated discrimination. According to Rock Health’s Digital Health Consumer Adoption survey last year, 85% of transgender respondents delayed necessary medical care, compared to 20% of cisgender respondents. Access to a culturally competent provider removes the barrier and anxiety of being in an in-person setting. It allows for a safe and trans-friendly experience from the convenience of your phone. TABLE OF CONTENTS

What conditions can be treated with my membership at Plume?

Acne, anxiety, allergies, depression, smoking cessation, insomnia, and contraception are health concerns that can be diagnosed and treated through Plume. This is in addition to gender-affirming hormone therapy – all of which is included in your Plume membership.

Do I have to pay for expanded services separately from GAHT?

Access to expanded services and gender-affirming hormone therapy are both included in your Plume membership. For members using their insurance to reduce the cost of membership, a co-pay is required for any expanded care and GAHT appointments. Learn more about cost and membership here.

Can I use your mail-order pharmacy for medications prescribed outside of gender-affirming hormone therapy?

At this time, we are only able to support mail orders for gender-affirming hormone therapy, sexual function, and hair restoration.

Will my GAHT provider see me for my other healthcare needs?

Yes. Your GAHT provider will also be the same provider delivering expanded care services.

I am interested in expanded care services. How do I schedule an appointment?

For current members, message your Care Team in Spruce for a link to schedule an appointment with your Plume provider. To ensure that your concerns are addressed thoroughly and effectively, we schedule one appointment per condition. This means that if you have multiple concerns, such as acne and anxiety, you will need separate appointments for each condition. This approach allows our providers to dedicate adequate time to understanding your needs and developing a tailored treatment plan.

For new members, select “Initial appointment: gender-affirming hormone therapy” during sign-up. After your initial GAHT consultation, you can schedule expanded care appointments to address additional concerns.

What can I expect during my appointment?

During the appointment, a medical provider will learn about your needs and history related to your specific health concerns. This includes how long you have experienced the condition, any prior care you have received for the condition, and your needs/goals. From there, a provider will share treatment options and discuss the treatment plan.

Can I list my Plume provider as my primary care provider?

No. Primary care is a comprehensive healthcare service that offers chronic disease management, wellness or preventative care (e.g. cancer screenings and immunizations), and acute care for short-term illnesses such as urinary tract infections or sore throats.  While we offer some of these services, we are not a replacement for your primary care provider at this time.
